About

Marcela Gómez Lugo is a Puerto Rican ballet dancer and choreographer based in St. Louis, MO. She is a Resident Artist, Executive Assistant, and Choreographer in Residence with Ballet 314.

Marcela began her training at Andanza School of Dance under the Cuban Methodology and continued her studies through summer intensives with ABT, CPYB, Bossov Ballet Theatre, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, Ballet Teatro de Puerto Rico, and Ballets de San Juan. She holds a BFA in Dance with minors in Dance Pedagogy and Psychology from Mercyhurst University.

As a choreographer, Marcela is known for her dynamic, story-driven approach and contemporary ballet style. She has been commissioned to create original contemporary ballet works as well as educational children’s ballets, including Chocolat, a Puerto Rican story ballet presented in St. Louis and Chicago that brought together a coalition of artists. Additional choreographic credits include commissions curated by Renversé Ballet, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the St. Louis Hispanic Festival.

Marcela brings extensive experience as a dance educator across a range of settings, including competitive dance studios, pre-professional programs, and K–12 schools. She currently teaches at Central Studio and Belleville School of Ballet. Through her work onstage, in the studio, and behind the scenes, she is committed to making the world of ballet accessible, welcoming, and inspiring for all.
